Hi Grapeviners!

So hopefully we now have a few more subscribers than just Nikki’s mum… (always our biggest fan.)

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed digging into everything Granada has to offer this week. There are so many events we’d never have discovered without this project!

Mary Poppins, an electric kart race, a film festival, a strike affecting public transport (that’s today, by the way!) - there’s even some stand-up comedy, in English!

🔊 Local News & Updates

🚍 There is a general strike on Wed 15 Oct, in Granada in support of Palestine. The bus company has indicated that official strikes will take place in these slots: 10-12h, 17-19h, 00-4h, but to expect reductions or delays at other times. Metro de Granada also confirm it will operate at 50% capacity, but warns that times and routes may change.

🏠 For the first time since the pandemic, rental prices in Granada have dipped slightly. In the third quarter of 2025, rents fell by 3.5%, bringing the average to around €10 per square metres. However, prices remain over 8% higher than a year ago, so while the market has cooled a little, Granada still faces strong demand and limited supply.

💻 Last call for autónomos and small businesses - you have until 31st October to apply for the Kit Digital, a government initiative which helps fund digital improvements for your business (websites, social media management, online tools). The jury’s still out on how useful it really is - we’ve heard mixed reports from those who’ve applied!

That’s all for this week! If you’ve enjoyed this newsletter, let us know! If you didn’t - also let us know! We’d love to hear from you about:

  • What information is hard to find in Granada that we could help share.

  • If you’re a writer, artist, business owner, or simply full of ideas and want to collaborate - let’s chat!

Answer: The dapper chap atop this week’s newsletter is Manuel de Falla (1876–1946), one of Spain’s greatest composers, who used elements of Andalusian folk in his compositions and.helped shape early 20th-century Spanish music. During his time in Granada, he composed neo-classical music heavily influenced by Stravinsky. Born in Cádiz, he later settled near the Alhambra in Granada, where he composed many masterpieces and hosted artistic gatherings with pals like Federico García Lorca.
