About This Event
A nostalgia-fuelled show fusing Cuban classics and flamenco, with plenty of dancing.
Description
Translated from the organiser's original listing
Entre Triana y La Habana is a vibrant show that revisits the greatest hits of Cuban music and flamenco, fused with sensitivity, roots and raw emotion - and above all, plenty of dancing. From timeless classics like Lagrimas Negras and Chan Chan to other gems reinterpreted through a mestizo and contemporary lens, the performance offers a deep encounter between two sister cultures united by rhythm and rum. The soul of the project is Jose Luis Jaen, an Almeria-born singer backed by a powerful Cuban rhythm section of heavyweight musicians embodying the best of today's Afro-Cuban sound. Jaen has dedicated years to music, performing across stages with orchestras before launching his own show. His career took a major leap after appearing on television talent programmes Tierra de Talento on Canal Sur (5th and 6th editions) and Cover Night on TVE, reaching the final in each. Judges have included figures such as Jose Merce, Monica Naranjo, Pastora Soler and Miguel Bose. Doors open at 6pm at Sala Planta Baja.
