Hiraeth (C-Art Dance)
About This Event
Contemporary dance exploring the separation between nature and human beings: combining movement, projections and original music.
Description
Hiraeth (noun): A deep longing for something, especially one's homeland or roots. Founded in 2022 by choreographer Carolina Márquez and composer Carmen G. Jara, C-Art Dance presents "Hiraeth", a production by Factoría Echegaray that fuses contemporary dance, projections and original music in a search for harmony between technology, nature and humanity. The story of modern humanity is the story of separation between nature and human beings, as if instead of being considered a sacred life-sustaining system, nature were something we dominate and possess. The Technological Revolution has not only eroded our planet but has diminished our capacity to converse, to enjoy each other's company, to simply be present. Yet sometimes we long to be where our spirit lives. That feeling is Hiraeth. Are we in time to become more human? Can we live in harmony and balance with the natural world? ask the creators. Choreographer Carolina Márquez trained at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London, Graham Technique and Pedagogy at the Martha Graham School in New York, and holds a degree in Contemporary Dance Choreography from the Superior Conservatory of Dance in Málaga. Throughout her career she has worked as performer, choreographer and teacher in London, New York, Madrid and Málaga. Composer Carmen G. Jara studied at the Professional Conservatory of Albacete and the "Oscar Esplá" Superior Conservatory of Alicante, continuing postgraduate studies at L'Escola de Música de Barcelona, the University of Barcelona and the University of Málaga, obtaining her doctorate in 2012. In 2009 she was nominated for the V Jerry Goldsmith Music Awards for the original soundtrack of La vida fluye. In 2014 she won the I Women and Culture Composition Prize from the Málaga Provincial Council for the work Los sueños de orexis o de deseo. She is accompanist pianist at the Superior Conservatory of Dance in Málaga. Performers: Sandra Abril, Zaida Ballesteros, Inma Montalvo and Carlos Novella. Suitable for all audiences. Performance at 11:00 on 4 February at Teatro Alhambra. Tickets from €8. See the official page for booking and details.
