Kiko Veneno, born in Girona in 1952, has spent over four decades crafting songs for himself and other artists, becoming one of the most influential figures in modern Spanish music. His debut album 'Veneno' (1977), recorded with the Amador brothers, and his contribution to Camarón de la Isla's 'La leyenda del tiempo' (1982) were landmark moments that opened the door to blending flamenco with other genres. Since then, Veneno has explored a remarkable range of styles - electropop on 'Si tu, si yo' (1984), melodic rock on 'Pequeño Salvaje' (1987), African-influenced pop on 'Dice la gente' (2010), tropical pop on 'El pimiento Indomable' (2012) and flamenco mestizo for the film 'Entre dos aguas' (2018). His biggest commercial hits, 'Échate un cantecito' (1992) and 'Está muy bien eso del cariño' (1995), helped define the pop-flamenco sound. Always difficult to classify but endlessly creative, Veneno has reinvented himself once again with his two most recent albums. 'Sombrero Roto' (2019) is energetic and joyful, while 'HAMBRE' (2021) explores darker, more experimental textures with electronic rhythms and meticulous sonic detail.
