Pilar Miró’s 1976 film (92 min, colour, original Spanish version) screens as part of the Filmoteca’s ‘50 años’ cycle. Set in 1900, Teresa, the only daughter of a wealthy northern Spanish family, hides a trail of dark secrets. When her lover dies in her arms, she enlists a devoted neighbour to dispose of the body. But when an aristocrat asks for her hand, she will kill to preserve her standing.
