Description
Translated from the organiser's original listing
Granada's main International Women's Day march sets off at midday on Sunday 8 March from Jardines del Triunfo. The route passes along Gran Via, Reyes Catolicos and Puerta Real before finishing at Paseo del Salon. The demonstration is organised by the Plataforma 8M/25M Feminismo Unitario de Granada under the slogan "Derechos para todas: Alianzas feministas contra el patriarcado imperialista" (Rights for all: Feminist alliances against imperialist patriarchy). Spain has one of the most active feminist movements in Europe, and 8M marches have become one of the country's most visible annual mobilisations since the landmark feminist strikes of 2018 and 2019, which drew millions of participants nationwide. Major cities including Madrid, Barcelona and Seville all hold simultaneous marches on the same day. The 2026 United Nations theme for International Women's Day is "Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls." Streets across the city are expected to fill with the movement's emblematic purple banners, flags and clothing. Attendees are encouraged to arrive in good time as large crowds are anticipated. No admission charge.
