Description
Translated from the organiser's original listing
This free guided visit is designed especially for families to explore Grillos y Luciernagas (Crickets and Fireflies), an exhibition by Madrid-born contemporary artist Fernando Sanchez Castillo. Groups of up to 10 children, each accompanied by an adult, will be guided through the works and the themes that inspire them. Fernando Sanchez Castillo's practice develops a multilateral critique of monumental discourse, dismantling its agencies of power and representation. His work seeks to rewrite the narratives of history - or at least make audiences more conscious of its complexities and traces - showing how history is constructed from multiple positions of power. He has held solo exhibitions at institutions including CA2M (Madrid), Stedelijk Museum 's-Hertogenbosch, Matadero (Madrid), MUSAC (Leon), Centre d'Art Contemporain Geneve and Fundacion NMAC (Cadiz), among others. Major group shows include Manifesta 15 (Barcelona), Diversity United at Tempelhof (Berlin), the 2018 Shanghai Biennale and the 2018 Riga Biennial. He is currently preparing a solo exhibition at Museo Reina Sofia for 2026. Registration is required. The visit takes place in Sala Mariana Pineda at Palacio de la Madraza.
