Wild at Heart (1990) is David Lynch's Palme d'Or-winning neo-noir road movie starring Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern as Sailor and Lula, a passionate young couple on the run from Lula's domineering mother and the violent underworld she controls. Blending extreme violence with references to The Wizard of Oz and 1950s rock 'n' roll, Lynch crafts a wild, provocative tale of doomed romance, freedom and twisted Americana.
