About This Exhibition
An immersive exhibition at the UGR School of Architecture that uncovers the hidden human stories of the building, from a 19th-century school for poorer children to its present-day life.
Description
Translated from the organiser's original listing
Staged in the exhibition hall of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura (UGR), Habitantes: Arquitecturas de la memoria transforms the space into a sensory, immersive journey through the building’s often-unseen past. At its heart is a real story from 1846, when the site was a small school for poorer children, and one father asked for his daughter Marta to be admitted at a time when girls were not allowed to study. That act of defiance becomes one layer among many, inviting visitors to reflect on the people and lives that have shaped the place over centuries. Curated by writer and transmedia creator Clara Peñalver, the exhibition forms part of the University of Granada’s V Centenary transmedia project led by the Vice-Rectorate for University Extension, Heritage and Institutional Relations and the UGR Heritage Area. The first edition was awarded AMMA’s Expone Prize for Best Exhibition Project in Andalusia 2025 for its innovative, inclusive narrative approach. With special collaboration from the Fundación Kutxabank and an interdisciplinary team across museography, design and events (including BricoDepot, PDecor Pintores, Maiquez, Laboratorio Creativo Habitación Sellada and Prodisa), the show brings architectural memory to life in a distinctly human way.
